Mallorca Has a Hotel With a ‘No Men Allowed’ Policy

Som Dona Hotel in Mallorca, Spain has anything that a traveler wants in accommodation – luxurious rooms, a pool, a bar lounge, free WiFi, a wellness area, and many more. But what makes it stand out from the other hotels is that it only accommodates women.

The hotel has a ‘no men allowed’ policy dedicated to women who want to rest by themselves. According to Unilad, a British internet media company, it’s a ‘new space for women who are looking to disconnect from the stress of daily life that offers personalised care tailored to their needs.’ It offers a getaway holiday location for women aged 14 years and above. Som Dona is the first hotel of its kind in Spain. It was created to be an 'innovative project that will help keep Majorca at the forefront of tourism trends'.

The hotel offers tons of services for its guests, including a sensory experience of local and international cuisine. According to them, their food has a perfect balance between healthy and delicious. Aside from that, women can enjoy body beauty treatments, massages, a whirlpool, solarium, and library. It has well-lit spaces with great ocean views that are ‘carefully designed for women’. According to the Daily Mail, a British daily middle-market newspaper published in London in a tabloid format, the official website of Som Dona says: “With bold decoration inspired by feminine features, this modern, functional and unique hotel in Porto Cristo guarantees a truly relaxing vacation on the seashore surrounded by nature.”

The hotel clarified that they still have male employees in line with Spanish gender discrimination laws. However, they hire women whenever possible. “One of our objectives is also to give certain visibility to women doing traditionally masculine jobs,” Som Hotels president, Joan Enric Capellá, said.
