Louise Turpin: The Mother Who Secretly Kept Her 13 Kids in Captivity For Years

Louise Turpin, 51, grew up in an abusive family. She and her sisters suffered sexual abuse. Their late mother, Phyllis Robinette, even sold them to a pedophile when they were young. When their parents died in 2016, Turpin didn’t attend either funeral. But, everything changed when she met David, her husband. They got married and the couple started to create their own family. Soon, the years of abuse began.

In January 2018, Turpin’s 17-year-old daughter jumped out of their window and ran off to call 911. She was pleading to save her other 12 siblings who were chained to a bed. “They will wake up at night and they will start crying and they wanted me to call somebody. I wanted to call y’all so y’all can help my sisters,” she said. The police immediately went to the said house which they described as a “house of horrors.”

All That’s Interesting, a site for curious people who want to know more about what they see on the news or read in history books, reported that Turpin had secretly kept her 13 children in captivity for years – possibly for decades. They were underfed and malnourished. They hadn’t been showered, washed, or bathed in months. The children also admitted that they had been beaten, purposefully starved, and often caged like animals. When the police arrived at the house, they found two of the girls chained to one of the beds. One of their brothers was still shackled to a bed, claiming that he was being punished for stealing food and being disrespectful.

Unfortunately, none of their neighbors suspected all of these horrors inside the Turpin household. This is because all the photos Turpin shared on social media depicted what seemed like a normal, loving family. Their family’s online presence showed a loving family that would go on trips to Disneyland, plan birthday celebrations, and many more. The couple even had three separate vow-renewal ceremonies in 2011, 2013, and 2015.
