Woman Quits Her Job to Live As A 50's Housewife

30-year-old Katrina Holte is now living as a “1950s housewife” by her own free will, reports Charlie Cocksedge British internet media company Unilad. She cooks, cleans, and takes care of her husband while making dresses from the said era in her free time. Katrina even transformed her home into a “working shrine,” adorning it with 1950s decor.

She states, “I feel like I’m living how I always wanted to. It’s my dream life and my husband shares my vision. It is a lot of work. I do tons of dishes, laundry and ironing, but I love it and it’s helping to take care of my husband and that makes me really happy.”

She reveals that her closet is filled with 1950s dresses she herself made. Katrina even has 1940s-style furniture in the living room and traditional bedroom. She tries to make everything as close to the era as possible, adding that she was born in the “wrong decade” considering what is happening in the world today. Hence, Katrina feels she belongs in a “nicer, more old-fashioned time.”

Her house is spic and span when Lars comes home. After dinner, the couple will play board games like Scrabble and watch old-fashioned shows such as I Love Lucy and The Donna Reed Show. Katrina adds, “I agree with old-fashioned values, like being a housewife, taking care of your family, nurturing the people in it and keeping your house in excellent condition, so everyone feels relaxed.”

Katrina, who was a part-time seamstress for a decade, explains that she left her job because it started to wear her down. She told Lars she wanted to be a housewife, to which he agreed. “It was a fantastic feeling when I quit,” Katrina states. With her new life as a full-time homemaker, Katrina can do what she wants and run her house as she wants to run it.
