Over 6,000 People Bought Alien Abduction Insurance

Insurance is meant to protect people against the risk of a contingent or uncertain loss. It is a means of protection from financial loss. But the Saint Lawrence Agency in Altamonte Springs, Florida is offering unusual insurance that easily attracted thousands of people: a limited or comprehensive alien abduction insurance.

Unilad, a British Internet media company and website owned by LADbible Group, reported that this started in the recent viral sensation “Storm Area, They Can’t Stop All of Us.” As of now, over 1.9 million people have clicked ‘attending’ on the Facebook event. According to the Saint Lawrence Agency, the insurance is meant to compensate a person when an alien abducted them. Those who are interested can avail the one-time fee of $24.95 or the discounted $19.95. The insurance costs $10 million which includes double identity coverage, ‘sarcasm coverage’ for disbelieving family members, and outpatient psychiatric care.

The insurance company had started this offer back in 1987. Since then, they had sold 6,000 policies which gained more interest from people because of the recent viral Facebook event. But St. Lawrence clarified that this is only intended for people with a sense of humor. “There’s a readjustment period if you’ve gone through something like this. I don’t want to try to rip somebody off. The people that come to me, if I think they don’t understand the terms and conditions, that this is tongue and cheek, I won’t sell it to them,” he said.

Mike St. Lawrence, the owner of the insurance company, has received calls from many people claiming that they have been abducted by aliens. For instance, a married couple stated that they had encountered an alien that they wouldn’t tell anyone. “Their 9-year-old son and daughter, I don’t remember how old she was, were both starting to say that they were having some kind of experience like that, and that’s not funny,” he said.
