10 Weird Bubble Gum Flavored Stuff (That Exist Today)

In the days long forgotten, what many people don’t know is that McDonald’s, deliverer of fries and McNuggets, had once released a bubblegum-flavored broccoli. Now, you might ask, “what is a bubblegum-flavored broccoli?” According to Reader’s Digest, it is exactly what it is: a bid by McDonald’s to try and get kids to eat their greens.

Suffice it to say, it didn’t work. When asked about the flavor of the broccoli, many children reported back that McDonald’s supposedly ingenious plan to get children to eat their veggies had only “confused” them about the taste.

Setting aside bubblegum-flavored broccoli, what of the bubblegums flavored with entire meals? Bacon bubblegum, anyone? Here are some of the weirdest bubblegum flavors that are still available today.

Bacon bubblegum

There might be merit in making a bacon bubblegum flavor, no matter that it does sound a little gross. According to The Daily Meal, a website covering food and drink topics, the bacon bubblegum was made for people who want that distinct bacon flavor “without all those fat calories.”

Wasabi gumballs

This is for everyone who’s ever said something isn’t spicy enough. When you look at the creator of the candy, though, the weirdness meter suddenly doesn’t seem to be too weird. Created by Archie McPhee, a specialty brand dedicated to bringing strange and amazing things to the world, the wasabi gumball was supposed to be a fun and funky way to enjoy gum. It might not freshen up your breath, but it sure will give you quite the experience.

Mint Chardonnay, and Absinthe-flavored gumballs

What about when you just need that alcohol fix but it’s 8 p.m. on a subway and you’re headed over to a friend’s house for dinner and can’t wait to drink liquor? This is where the Xylish Platinum Mint Chardonnay Flavor gum becomes your friend. With the apt slogan of “smell drink, stay sober,” this odd bubblegum flavor is not the only alcohol-flavored gum. There’s some Absinthe-flavored gum out there, too, which, well, speaks for itself really.

Frank & Beans, and Cocktail Wienies bubblegum

If you think the parade of meal-based bubblegum sets is the end, think again. What about this Cocktail Wienies bubblegum flavors that, as Buzzfeed reports, don’t just taste like wienies but look like them, too. Of course, to complement this monstrosity of a food item, we have the Frank & Beans bubblegum flavor, too, with the tagline, “Just Like Grandma’s.”

No Time Gum

No time? There’s a gum for that, too. Just in case you want to leave the house and you haven’t brushed your teeth, this is just the gum for you. This gum from Japan retails for $2.25 and is still available at Lotte. According to the website Napa Japan, this gum “has a gritty texture and is lightly mint-flavored. It is sweetened by Xylitol which is a more tooth-friendly ingredient.”

Man Smell Gum

At this point, it would benefit every one of us to assume that all the gum in the world can be tailor-made for something specific -- like this one, the man smell gum. According to Mikes Blender’s review of this “rose menthol” flavored gum, this product was created for the old-man-smelling demographic of Japan.

The story behind the gum is that the rose flavor of it is said to be easily absorbed by the body, so that not only are old men combatting the nasty odor with better-smelling breath, but also with, hopefully, a better-smelling body as well.

Sex Gum

Japan has another entry in this category of increasingly weird bubblegum flavors. Much like the man smell gum, the sex gum is also made for men who “wish to remain young, strong, and virile for a lifetime,” as described by Buzzfeed. The description goes on to say that this gum can also help “increase your testosterone naturally and get back that sexual performance you had when you were younger.”

Obama Berry Chewing Gum

You can get your president in a gum, too, it seems, because there also exists the Obama Berry gum, which is every bit as weird as, well, anything. It could be that it’s a joke about how the former president of the United States just really loved his gum but that’s probably for the Obama Berry gum eaters to decide.

Cat Hairball bubblegum

All the gum in the world might still not be able to match up with this odd idea for a gumball. Even though it’s advertised on Amazon as having a “bumpy” texture, it is blessedly bubble-gum flavored and won’t probably get stuck in your throat like a common cat hairball.
